Forgeline Customers Dominate Goodguys AutoCross at the Summit Racing Nationals

The Goodguys 28th Summit Racing Nationals delivered another exciting weekend of AutoCross competition, and when the final results were tallied, Forgeline customers stood at the top of nearly every major category. In addition to recording the five fastest overall times of the weekend, Forgeline-equipped competitors earned victories in the Pro, Pro-X, Street Machine, Corvette, and Sports Car classes.

Leading the way was Bob Bertelsen, whose 1968 Chevrolet Corvette posted the fastest overall lap of the event with a 40.617-second run. Chris Smith followed closely behind in second overall with a 40.750-second lap in his 1970 Chevrolet Camaro, while Ron Scott Jr. claimed both third and fourth overall in two different Corvettes. Sean Brinkley rounded out the top five overall in another Corvette, giving Forgeline customers an impressive sweep of the top five positions on the leaderboard.

Chris Smith's performance earned him the Summit Pro Class victory and the coveted Forgeline Buckeye Shootout title, capping off an outstanding weekend for the Smitty's Custom Automotive team.

One of the most remarkable stories of the weekend belonged to Ron Scott Jr. Driving a brand-new 1978 Chevrolet Corvette for the first time in competition, Scott immediately put the car at the front of the field. He captured the Pro-X class victory and recorded the fourth-fastest overall time of the weekend despite the event serving as the car's competition debut. Scott also placed third overall in his 1963 Chevrolet Corvette, demonstrating both the speed of his equipment and his versatility behind the wheel.

The class victories continued throughout the field. Tom Farrington earned the Street Machine class win, Bob Bertelsen topped the Corvette class, and Ryan Mathews captured the Sports Car class victory. Combined with Chris Smith's Pro class win and Ron Scott Jr.'s Pro-X victory, Forgeline customers accounted for five major class wins during the weekend.

The results highlight the level of competition found within the Goodguys AutoCross Racing Series and the quality of the drivers who continue to push their machines harder every season. To record the five fastest overall times while also capturing victories across multiple classes is a testament to the preparation, craftsmanship, and performance these competitors bring to every event.

Congratulations to Bob Bertelsen, Chris Smith, Ron Scott Jr., Sean Brinkley, Tom Farrington, Ryan Mathews, and all of the Forgeline customers who competed at the 28th Summit Racing Nationals. Thank you for your continued trust in Forgeline.
