Forgeline Delivers Purpose-Built Track Wheels for Ford’s Mustang GTD Performance Package
Ford’s new Mustang GTD equipped with the optional Performance Package recently shocked the world with a new Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record, further validating the car’s extraordinary performance capability. That level of performance brings extreme cornering loads and sustained high-speed forces that demand uncompromising strength at every contact point, especially the wheel. It should come as no surprise that Ford turned to Forgeline, drawing on more than three decades of experience building high-performance wheels for some of the world’s fastest vehicles, to develop the 20-inch forged aluminum track wheel for the Mustang GTD Performance Package to support the GTD’s extreme performance.
Forgeline responded with a unique one-piece forged monoblock wheel solution engineered specifically for the Mustang GTD to deliver exceptional fatigue strength and deflection stiffness under repeated high-load conditions. The goal was simple: maintain precise geometry at the limit, resisting deflection and enduring the punishing stress cycles generated by aggressive aerodynamics and the immense grip of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires.
The end result is a unique Performance Package wheel setup from Forgeline measuring 20x12.0 in the front and 20x12.5 in the rear, finished in "Ebony Black". These wheels are developed exclusively for the Mustang GTD and are available only through Ford as part of the Mustang GTD Performance Package.
