Against the Odds: Robert Wickens Returns to CTMP with DXDT Racing and Corvette GT3.R

One of the most inspiring stories in motorsports continues this weekend as Canadian driver Robert Wickens returns to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) aboard the No. 36 DXDT Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R on Forgeline one-piece forged monoblock SS1R-GT wheels.

For Wickens, the trip to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park represents more than just another stop on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule. The Ontario native has long regarded the historic circuit (formerly known as Mosport) as his home track and has previously enjoyed success there in IMSA competition, making this return particularly meaningful.

This weekend's return comes after what could have been a season-ending setback for the program. Following a strong showing at Long Beach, where Wickens scored an emotional GTD pole position, a transporter fire destroyed critical equipment including the specialized Bosch hand-control steering wheel and braking components that make it possible for Wickens to compete in the Corvette GT3.R. What followed was an extraordinary effort by engineers, technicians, suppliers, and team personnel working together to rebuild the program and get the No. 36 Corvette back on track in time for Wickens' home race.

Against considerable odds, that effort succeeded. Instead of watching from the sidelines, Wickens will return to competition this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in front of family, friends, and Canadian fans who have long supported one of motorsport's most remarkable comeback stories.

There may be no better venue for that return than Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Corvette Racing has enjoyed tremendous success there over the years, with the Corvette program earning more victories at CTMP than at any other track on the IMSA schedule. The circuit serves as a fitting backdrop for Wickens' homecoming.

The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R continues to prove itself as one of the premier GT3 platforms in global motorsports. Developed through a close collaboration between Pratt Miller, Chevrolet, Corvette Racing, and Forgeline Motorsports, the GT3.R has earned victories and championships across IMSA, FIA WEC, ELMS, SRO competition, and major endurance races around the world. Every Corvette GT3.R competes on Forgeline one-piece forged monoblock SS1R-GT wheels, engineered specifically for the demands of professional GT3 competition.

As part of that development effort, Forgeline worked closely with Pratt Miller to create an application-specific version of the center-locking SS1R-GT wheel for the Corvette GT3.R. Optimized for mass, strength, stiffness, and durability, the SS1R-GT continues to perform at the highest levels of international motorsports.

As the IMSA paddock heads north of the border, fans will have plenty of reasons to cheer for the No. 36 DXDT Racing Corvette. Between the remarkable recovery from the transporter fire, the continued evolution of the hand-control program, the home-track atmosphere, and the proven competitiveness of the Corvette GT3.R platform, Robert Wickens' return to CTMP is certain to be one of the most compelling stories of the weekend.

Good luck to Robert Wickens, Alec Udell, and the entire DXDT Racing team this weekend at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, and thank you for trusting Forgeline.
