Ford GT Mk IV Sets New Nürburgring Lap Record on Forgeline One Piece Forged Monoblock Wheels
The Ford GT Mk IV on Forgeline one piece forged monoblock wheels has set a new Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record with an officially recorded time of 6:15.977, making it the fastest American car to ever lap the circuit and the quickest vehicle powered exclusively by an internal‑combustion engine. The lap was completed on April 1, 2026, with Ford Racing factory driver Frédéric Vervisch behind the wheel.

Only 67 units of the new Ford GT Mk IV will be produced by Multimatic Motorsports to commemorate the 1967 victory of Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the original Ford GT40. And the $1.7 million Mk IV is a serious performance machine that not only makes 800+ horsepower from its twin‑turbocharged 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine, but also produces massive cornering loads thanks to real Michelin slicks and up to 2400 lbs of downforce at 150 mph.

The engineering teams at Forgeline, Multimatic Motorsports, and Ford Racing worked closely together to design a unique wheel capable of handling these extreme loads. The result is the 18x12.5/18x13.0 Forgeline one‑piece forged monoblock “Gurney”, designed exclusively for the Ford GT Mk IV. The Forgeline team also collaborated with Multimatic and Ford Racing to engineer the wheel’s compatibility with the optional aero disc, available directly from Multimatic for the GT Mk IV.

This Nürburgring record continues a string of impressive performances for the GT Mk IV, which has now established itself as one of the most capable track‑only vehicles in the world. Its Nordschleife achievement adds to an expanding list of record‑setting laps at major circuits, demonstrating the combined effectiveness of Ford Racing engineering, Multimatic development, and Forgeline’s one‑piece forged monoblock wheel technology.

We congratulate Ford Racing, Multimatic Motorsports, Frédéric Vervisch, and the entire development team on this remarkable accomplishment. Forgeline is extremely proud to have played a role in the GT Mk IV’s historic run at the Nürburgring, a track that leaves no room for compromise.
