It was a dramatic pass at the finish line that allowed Robin Liddell and Frank DePew to claim victory at Road America, winning the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge GS class with their #71 Rebel Rock Racing Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R on Forgeline one piece forged monoblock GS1R wheels.
The Rebel Rock Camaro started the race at Road America with momentum from a slew of recent successes, including a win at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in July. But severe thunderstorms in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin forced a delayed start and a shortened race length to just 75 minutes.
As usual, Liddell displayed his driving brilliance. Sitting in 4th place on the final lap, he made a brilliant pass around the famed Canada Corner, moving past Corey Fergus in the #69 Motorsports-In-Action McLaren GT4 and Eric Foss in the #56 Murillo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT4 to take second place. Then just inches from the finish line, Kuno Wittmer made an error in the #75 Compass Racing McLaren GT4, allowing the hard-charging Liddell to seize victory quite literally at the finish line!
