Forgeline and ZyClear have teamed up to launch ZyClear's new Clear Gloss Wheel Coating Kit.
ZyClear is a spray-on or wipe-on liquid thin-film (only 4-6 microns thick) non-stick coating that protects metal surfaces from brake dust, UV discoloration, corrosion, and oxidation without dulling the original powder coated or polished appearance. Because dirt, chemicals, and brake dust will not stick to a ZyClear treated surface, it makes wheel cleaning and maintenance effortless (just rinse off with clean water).
Our materials engineers subjected polished aluminum wheel components to over 3400 hours of salt spray testing and discovered virtually no damage to the test components that had been treated with ZyClear. And because it is so thin (just 4-6 microns), it will not dull or cloud the shine of polished aluminum (unlike a clear powder coat).
This affordable DIY kit can be applied at home and is expected to last at least two years or more, before requiring reapplication. Each kit is sufficient to treat five entire wheels and includes everything needed for application, including surface cleaner, ZyClear coating, two lint-free towels, and a pair of protective rubber gloves.
"We lab tested it and proved that it works extremely well," says Forgeline president Dave Schardt. "We need a way to protect aluminum from road chemicals, especially for raw polished aluminum parts that are more vulnerable to oxidation. ZyClear gives us an affordable solution that will not dull or obscure the shine of a highly-polished finish, unlike a clear powder coat. And it makes wheel cleaning so much easier. Every wheel, definitely every polished wheel, should be treated with ZyClear."
The official launch of the ZyClear/Forgeline partnership kicks off at the 27th Goodguys Summit Racing Nationals, in Columbus, Ohio, over the July 11-13 weekend, where we will be displaying sample parts from our 3400-hour salt spray lab testing and will have ZyClear DIY wheel kits available for purchase.
