Mars and Michaelian to Race New KohR Motorsports S650 Ford Mustang GT4 for 2024 IMSA Season

Luca Mars and Bob Michaelian are returning to KohR Motorsports for the 2024 IMSA racing season, where they will campaign the new S650 Ford Mustang GT4 on Forgeline one piece forged monoblock GS1R wheels.

In addition to drivers Mars and Michaelian, most of the 2023 crew members are also returning to KohR Motorsports for the 2024 season, as well as the previous sponsor lineup consisting of JOMAC Aluminum Truck Bodies and Cranes, Race for RP, and Forgeline Motorsports.

The Mars/Michaelian/Mustang combination at KohR Motorsports enjoyed a strong second half of the 2023 season, including a second-place podium finish at Road America followed by three more top-ten finishes, scoring more points than all but one other competitor in the second half of the 2023 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge series. But last year's S550 Mustang GT4 platform was the oldest car in the field, which presented some performance obstacles.

Ford’s new factory-direct S650 Mustang GT4 is built in partnership with Multimatic Motorsports and was introduced in June 2023, at Belgium's Spa circuit. It’s powered by a Coyote-based V8 engine developed by Ford Performance mated to a paddle-shifted Holinger dog-ring gearbox and rides on an upgraded competition-approved suspension package, Multimatic DSSV dampers, Brembo brakes, and 18×11 Forgeline one piece forged monoblock GS1R wheels. The brand new platform is expected to be big performance upgrade for KohR's 2024 racing season, which begins with the IMSA Rolex 24 at Daytona, at the end of January.

"It has been a few years since I've been this excited to get back to Daytona," said KohR Motorsports owner Dean Martin. "I'm looking forward to having the same great driver lineup we had last year. But this year we're going to have a better weapon to race with in the new Mustang GT4, and we've made improvements within our crew also. I'm counting down the days to Daytona!"

"We've always enjoyed a close relationship with Dean Martin and the KohR Motorsports team," added Forgeline's Global Sales Director, Steve Schardt. "Of course, we're very proud that Ford and Multimatic chose to homologate the GT4 platform once again on Forgeline GS1R wheels. But more than anything, we just can't wait to see Luca and Bob go win some races!"
