Marks and Dyson Lead Trans Am TA at Road America

It was an exciting battle on track among Forgeline-equipped cars, in Trans Am’s Denny Lamers Tribute 100 TA race at Road America. After several lead changes, NASCAR Xfinity driver Justin Marks eventually outpaced 2022 series champion Chris Dyson to earn his second victory of the 2023 season.

Justin started Saturday’s 25-lap/75-minute race on the pole, in his no.99 Trackhouse Chevrolet Camaro on custom-made Forgeline one piece forged monoblock front and forged three piece rear wheels, designed specifically for the Riley Technologies TA chassis. It was his fourth pole position of the 2023 season so far. But Chris Dyson passed Justin for the lead in turn three of the first lap, in his no.16 Ford Mustang on Forgeline forged three piece TA3R wheels. Chris led the field for the first 8 laps, with Justin making several attempts at a pass. Finally on lap nine, Justin managed to stick a pass and regain the lead.

An on-track incident on lap 12 resulted in a black flag, which stopped the racing action and bunched up the field, putting second place Chris Dyson and third place Boris Said back into striking distance of Justin Marks. And when the race went green again on lap 16, Justin went wide in turn three, allowing both Chris and Boris to get past. But Justin was consistently turning the fastest laps, which allowed him to quickly catch both cars and retake the lead, which he maintained without challenge, taking the checkered flag after 75 minutes and 24 laps to earn his second win of the 2023 season. Chris and Boris rounded out the podium, finishing second and third, respectively.

“My car was really, really good today; big thanks to all of my guys,” said Marks in GYM WEED Victory Lane. “This is an awesome racetrack. I love coming to this side of the country and seeing all the fans here. I’ve gotten to race here in IMSA, World Challenge and Xfinity, and I’ve always wanted to win here, so I’m really excited that it happened today. That’s three wins in a row for this Trackhouse brand and hopefully we can keep doing it tomorrow in Atlanta. It was really nice to race against both of these guys; we can race hard, and we can all race clean. Overall, it was just a good day for us.”

Congrats to Justin and Chris – and to their Showtime Motorsports/Trackhouse Racing and Dyson Racing teams. And thanks for trusting Forgeline to carry the load!
