17-year old Luca Mars won race one of the IMSA VP Racing Fuels GSX class, at Sebring International Raceway, in the no. 59 Kohr Motorsports Mustang GT4 on Forgeline one piece forged monoblock GS1R wheels. Luca started the race in P2 and spent most of the 45 minute race tracking down race leader Gregory Liefooghe in the no. 43 Stephen Cameron Racing BMW M4 GT4. Then on the very last lap, Luca made his move in turn one and stuck a pass, holding on to take the checkered flag with a 0.292 second margin of victory over Liefooghe.
“It was a long race there,” Luca recalled. “Lapped traffic kind of separated me and Greg a little bit, but I had him coming into [turn] 1. I had a run, so I set up and got a little over-under. I was able to stick my nose in so he couldn’t fully block. I just kind of put my car in there where he couldn’t get down and squeeze me. I just got around the corner, he went a little wide, and that was it.”
Luca and the Kohr Motorsports team hit the track at Sebring again on Thursday, March 16 with the Michelin Pilot Challenge Alan Jay Automotive Network 120.
