Teamwork makes the dream work. It was a team effort that helped get Justin Marks to the top of the Trans Am TA class podium at Lime Rock, Justin’s home track.

Justin had set the fastest lap in practice, in his no.99 Showtime Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro on custom-made Forgeline one piece forged monoblock front and forged three piece rear wheels, designed specifically for the Riley Technologies TA chassis. But a failed engine forced the team to change engines prior to the qualifying session, and then a broken brake rotor ended Justin’s qualifying session early. As a result, he ended up starting in the 7th spot, well behind the front row of Matthew Brabham and Chris Dyson.

During the race, Justin quickly worked his way through the field, moving into third place by lap four. After catching and passing Brabham on lap 28, Justin then passed Dyson to take the lead on lap 32, just over halfway through the race. A crash involving the no.8 Ford Mustang of Tomy Drissi bunched up the field again on lap 42. But a flawless restart and fast consistent laps throughout the remainder of the race allowed Justin to maintain the lead and win his first race of the 2023 season.

“Winning feels good,” said Marks. “You know, we were on pole the first two races, so it’s been a good start to the year, but we weren’t able to translate either of those into wins. It’s so good to get the win today. My crew had to work a lot harder than they signed up for this weekend, having to replace a motor after first practice and a rotor after qualifying. It’s nice to reward those guys with a win. It was tricky; both of the CD Racing cars were fast and I had to really use lapped traffic to try to get by them. I think in a straight-up dog fight it would have been tricky to get around them. I’m so proud of my team and all these guys, and I’m so glad to be here in Victory Circle at Lime Rock.”
