The new Forgeline-equipped Ford S650 Mustang GT4 dominated Saturday's GSX-class podium in the VP Racing Challenge at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, thanks to a 1-2 finish by Jack Polito and Luca Mars.
Jack started second on the GSX grid, in the No.98 Polito Racing Ford Mustang GT4, but he inherited the lead just under halfway through the 45-minute sprint race, when polesitter Jesse Lazare's No. 21 Motorsports-In-Action McLaren Artura GT4 came to a stop. At the ensuing restart, Jack saw some pressure from Luca in the second place No.59 KohR Motorsports Ford Mustang GT4, but Jack was able to maintain his position until another crash further back in the field brought out a full course caution. The race finished under caution with Jack and Luca occupying P1 and P2.
Jack's VP Sports Car Challenge win at CTMP was also his very first IMSA start of his young career. And Luca's second place finish allows him to maintain his 2024 GSX class season points lead.
“It feels pretty good, pretty fantastic!” Jack said. “I’ve been pounding laps here since I was 15 years old and I’ve just been grinding, working out, training for this. I’ve just been envisioning it, manifesting it, and it came true. I’m pretty happy.”
Ford’s new factory-direct S650 Mustang GT4 is built in partnership with Multimatic Motorsports. It’s powered by a Coyote-based V8 engine developed by Ford Performance mated to a paddle-shifted Holinger dog-ring gearbox and rides on an upgraded competition-approved suspension package, Multimatic DSSV dampers, Brembo brakes, Michelin racing slicks, and 18×11 Forgeline one piece forged monoblock GS1R wheels.
Congrats to Jack, Luca, and the entire Polito Racing and KohR Motorsports teams, and thank you for the trust that you’ve placed in Forgeline!
