DXDT Racing took their pair of Forgeline-equipped Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06 GT3.R race cars to Road America over the August 16-18 weekend for the fifth and sixth rounds of the Fanatec GT World Challenge America series, where they took back-to-back wins in the GT Pro class and scored their first victory of the 2024 season in the GT Pro-Am class.
Their weekend started with successful qualifying sessions, when Alec Udell turned the fastest lap to put the No.63 Corvette GT3.R on the pole for the GT Pro race on Saturday, and Tommy Milner's fast lap ensured that the No.63 Corvette would start at the front for the GT Pro race on Sunday. Meanwhile, Bryson Morris, making his first start for the team, earned the pole position for the No.08 car for Saturday's GT Pro-Am race, with co-driver Bryan Sellers securing a third place start for Sunday's Pro-Am race.
During Saturday's 90-minute race, DXDT's Alec Udell and the No.63 Corvette were engaged in some intense racing against Luca Mars in the No.93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 EVO22, with Mars briefly claiming the lead to bump the No.63 Corvette into second place. But at the driver change, Tommy Milner took over and reclaimed the lead. Despite continued pressure from Mars's co-driver, Zach Veach, Tommy never wavered and drove the No.63 DXDT Racing Corvette to the checkered flag to claim the team's fifth GT Pro win of the 2024 season.
After starting on the pole again for Sunday's race, Tommy Milner in the No.63 Corvette was quickly passed by Elliott Skeer in the No.120 Wright Motorsports Porsche 992 GT3 R. But Tommy kept the Corvette within striking distance of the Porsche, throughout his stint. At the driver change, Alec Udell reclaimed the lead for the DXDT Racing Corvette and never looked back. When Alec finally took the checkered flag, it marked yet another weekend of back-to-back GT Pro wins for DXDT and their sixth win of the 2024 season.
Despite a Pro-Am class pole position on Saturday for Bryson Morris and Bryan Sellers in the No.08 Corvette, their day quickly went sideways, when they were involved with an on-track incident on the very first lap that ended their race prematurely. However, their fortunes improved dramatically on Sunday, when Brian started third on the grid and maintained that position up until the pit stops. After the driver change, Bryson charged to the front of the Pro-Am class and second overall in the entire field. His lead remained uncontested to the finish, giving DXDT their first Pro-Am win of the 2024 season and giving Bryson his first win in the series.
"With the limited dry running time this week due to the weather, I'm really happy to be on the podium,” said Alec Udell. “The Corvette performed beautifully at Road America, and I'm thrilled with the platform. Tommy had a great first stint, though he might have gotten caught in some traffic and dirty air. We had a bit of a battle with Adam (Adelson), who drove really well in the opening laps of his stint. There was some congestion as cars were coming out of the pit lane, but we were able to take advantage and run cleanly to the finish. I'm really happy for Bryson and Bryan as well; it was fantastic to see their car up front. Overall, it was a great team effort."
Based on the Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06 and sharing the road car’s aluminum chassis, the Corvette GT3.R is powered by a version of the Z06’s 5.5L DOHC LT6 V8 engine mated to a 6-speed sequential transmission. It rides on a motorsports-specific double-wishbone suspension system that was engineered for optimal performance at lower racing ride heights and a motorsports-specific 6-piston front/4-piston rear braking system with unique cooling and quick-change capabilities.
The Corvette GT3.R's engineering and manufacturing partners at Pratt Miller Engineering worked with the team at Forgeline Motorsports for several years to develop an application-specific version of Forgeline’s center-locking one piece forged monoblock SS1R-GT wheel that was engineered to deliver optimized performance metrics (in terms of mass, deflection, strength, and durability) specifically for the new Corvette GT3.R. Each Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06 GT3.R sold by Chevrolet anywhere across the globe will compete on 18×12.5/18×13 Forgeline one piece forged monoblock SS1R-GT wheels finished in Gloss Black.
Congratulations to Tommy, Alec, Bryan, Bryson, and the entire DXDT Racing team, and thank you for the trust that you’ve placed in Forgeline!
