Tommy Milner, Alec Udell, and the DXDT Racing team earned the first-ever global competition win for the new Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06 GT3.R and the Corvette's Forgeline one piece forged monoblock SS1R-GT wheels with a pair of historic back-to-back overall victories at the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS race, at Circuit of the Americas.
Tommy and Alec had earned the Pro Class pole for the start of Saturday's race, in the No. 63 DXDT Racing Corvette GT3.R, and started from the third spot overall on the grid. Aside from a brief stint in second place behind the No. 28 ST BMW of Bill Auberlen, they spent most of Saturday's race at the front of the Pro Class pack and ultimately finished with a 3.706-second overall margin ahead of the Pro-Am clas No. 38 ST Racing BMW M4 GT3 of Neil Verhagen and Samantha Tan.
The DXDT Racing Corvette started Sunday's race in sixth overall. They made steady progress throughout the race, before taking the Pro Class lead with 25 minutes remaining and finally passing the No. 38 ST Racing BMW M4 GT3 for the overall lead with 19 minutes remaining. They took the checkered flag to earn their second win of the weekend.
Based on the Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06 and sharing the road car’s aluminum chassis, the Corvette GT3.R is powered by a version of the Z06’s 5.5L DOHC LT6 V8 engine mated to a 6-speed sequential transmission. It rides on a motorsports-specific double-wishbone suspension system that was engineered for optimal performance at lower racing ride heights and a motorsports-specific 6-piston front/4-piston rear braking system with unique cooling and quick-change capabilities.
Pratt Miller Engineering worked with the team at Forgeline Motorsports for several years to develop an application-specific version of Forgeline’s center-locking one piece forged monoblock SS1R-GT wheel that was engineered to deliver optimized performance metrics (in terms of mass, deflection, strength, and durability) specifically for the new Corvette GT3.R. Each Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06 GT3.R sold by Chevrolet anywhere across the globe will compete on 18×12.5/18×13 Forgeline one piece forged monoblock SS1R-GT wheels finished in Gloss Black.
