Chevrolet's Forgeline-equipped Corvette Z06 GT3.R saw yet another winning weekend of racing, at the UAB Medicine GT World Alabama event, at Barber Motorsports Park, earning two victories and a runner-up in three races over two separate classes.
DXDT Racing continued their strong season in the GT World Challenge America Pro-Am class, with their No.11 Corvette, piloted by the pair of Blake McDonald and Matt Bell. Blake started the weekend with a second-place qualifying position on Saturday's grid, while Matt earned a fourth-place position for the start of Sunday's race. The team was able to capitalize on both of these grid positions, scoring a second-place podium spot on Saturday and charging through the field to bring home the win on Sunday. DXDT's Sunday victory marks their fourth win of the 2025 season, and their success at Barber keeps them within reach of a possible season championship.
“Myself and Blake put in a fantastic performance today,” said DXDT's Matt Bell. “It was a brilliant drive from Blake, one of the best I've seen him do all season. He’s been growing all the way through the season and really getting to grips with Corvette, and we're both really clicking at the right part of the season. To finish it off this weekend with a win is a testament to the team and a never-say-never attitude.”
Meanwhile, in Saturday's GT America race, evolving weather conditions made tire choice a difficult gamble. Most of the field chose to start the race on the wet track with rain tires. But as the race progressed, conditions improved, and the racing line dried, forcing the front-runners to cycle through pit stops to change tires. But Ross Chouest and the No.50 Chouest Povoledo Racing Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R had started the race on dry tires. And while this made the early laps difficult, it paid big dividends later on, allowing Ross to stay on track and roll right into the lead, as the other teams made their pit stops. Ross faced a brief challenge from Kyle Washington in the No.32 GMG Racing Porsche 992 GT3 R, but a late-race spin by Washington ensured a clear path to the checkered flag for the Chouest Corvette, giving Ross his second win of the 2025 season.
Based upon the Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06 and sharing the road car’s aluminum chassis, the Corvette GT3.R is powered by a version of the Z06’s 5.5L DOHC LT6 V8 engine mated to a 6-speed sequential transmission. It rides on a motorsports-specific double-wishbone suspension system and a motorsports-specific 6-piston front/4-piston rear AP Racing braking system with unique cooling and quick-change capabilities. Pratt Miller worked with the team at Forgeline Motorsports for several years to develop an application-specific version of Forgeline’s center-locking one piece forged monoblock SS1R-GT wheel that was engineered to deliver optimized performance metrics (in terms of mass, deflection, strength, and durability) specifically for the new Corvette GT3.R, and every Chevrolet C8 Corvette Z06 GT3.R competes on 18×12.5/18×13 Forgeline one piece forged monoblock SS1R-GT wheels finished in Gloss Black.
Congrats to Blake, Matt, Ross, the entire DXDT Racing and Chouest Povoledo Racing teams, and Team Chevy, and thank you for the trust that you place in Forgeline!
