After more than 7,500 hours of work, Mikey Dascon’s 1969 International Scout III, built by Driven Speed Shop, earned major recognition at the Goodguys Southwest Nationals in Scottsdale, Arizona, where it was named a Goodguys 2026 Dakota Digital Truck of the Year Late Finalist.
The build transforms the classic Scout into a modern high‑performance restomod, as every major system was re‑engineered to deliver contemporary performance while retaining the Scout’s original character. It's powered by a 1,000+ horsepower Whipple‑supercharged 6.2L Wegner Automotive V8 mated to a Gearstar 4L80E automatic transmission and rides on a Roadster Shop RS4 chassis, Baer disc brakes, BFGoodrich T/A KO2 tires, and custom one‑off 18x8.5 one‑piece forged monoblock Forgeline TR12 Beadlock wheels finished in a custom trim‑matching bronze and built with no front center caps to accommodate the lockout hubs.
