Daytona 2010

Dayton OH, February 15, 2010 – We all know it has been some weeks now since the Rolex 24 has
concluded but we just wanted to do a quick re-cap of the results with the teams that are partnered with FORGELINE. Hopes were high as the Racers Edge RX8 qualified in 2nd and Leighton Reese's Godstone Ranch Corvette qualified in 4th. It was definitely an exciting event as 3 of the top 10 GT Class vehicles were FORGELINE partners.
The Stevenson GT.R Camaro’s did quite well considering that this was the first official event that was ran with the new vehicles. The #57 Camaro GT.R placed 4th in the GT Class and 11th overall from the event with the fastest lap time of 1:50.540 and the #97 Camaro GT.R placed 10th in the GT Class and 17th overall with a fast lap time of 1:52.351. We had a chance to catch up with Mike Johnson from Stevenson Motorsports to see what his thoughts were, “When we tested the new sped EVR3 wheel at Daytona, we realized an immediate improvement with responsiveness in the car which led us to buying all new wheels for our GT and GS Camaro Racing programs. The wheels performed great through the heavy demands at Daytona and we are happy to continue our relationship with FORGELINE in 2010.”
The much talked about Turner Motorsports and their new GT Class #94 BMW M6, was also on the grid for Daytona. After extreme testing, it was finally time to put this newly built vehicle on the track which resulted in an 8th place in the GT Class and overall 15th place and the fastest lap time of 1:50.760. “It’s a little bit surreal that it’s over” said Will Turner. “I remember looking at the clock and noticing that it was four hours in, and I was thinking, ‘wow, we have a long way to go’. The tired factor definitely plays a factor in it. We started with the car in the rain, and then Joey got it up to the lead, and then had some problems, and then went back to the lead, and then we weren't in contention, but the car kept running and we just kept going. So to see Paul (Dalla Lana) cross the line, it’s a great
achievement for us, to have the "rookies" finish the race in our first try.” – We couldn’t agree more. To
have a fresh new build to run for the first time, especially in an intense venue like Daytona, and finish 15th overall out of 45 was definitely a success.
Another team we were excited about was the Corsa Team PR1’s BMW M6. Also running FORGELINE’s,
the Corsa Team PR1 M6 placed 11th in the GT Class and 17th overall with a fast lap time of 1:50.491.
Another impressive first start!
All-in-all, we looked at Daytona as a success and we are proud that are partners resulted in how they
did. We can only hope as we go deeper into the season that we have more successful events such as this. We will see you guys at the Grand Prix of Miami in March!
